Cultural Competency in Mental Health:
Honoring Diverse Perspectives in Healing
Event Description
Join us for a transformative professional development experience focused on building cultural competency in mental health settings. This comprehensive workshop addresses the critical intersection of culture, identity, and mental wellness, equipping participants with both conceptual understanding and practical skills to provide more inclusive, effective support across diverse communities.
In recognition of Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, this workshop goes beyond surface-level diversity training to explore how cultural factors fundamentally shape mental health experiences, help-seeking behaviors, treatment efficacy, and healing journeys. Participants will gain evidence-based strategies for adapting their approach while building on the cultural strengths and resilience factors present in diverse communities.
Led by public health expert and mental health advocate Nisi Bennett, this session combines research-backed insights with real-world applications, creating a learning experience that transforms understanding into action.
